Hampton Roads REALTORS Foundation Scholarship

It is the desire of the The Hampton Roads REAL TORS® Foundation to establish a partnership with Tidewater Community College Educational Foundation through the establishment of the Hampton Roads REALTORS Foundation Scholarship for the advancement of students looking to improve skills via continuing education.

It is the intent of the The Hampton Roads REALTORS® Foundation to make this scholarship available for exemplary students who have demonstrated a strong work ethic, a drive to succeed, and a commitment to education. Scholarship award criteria and selection processes are as follows:

A. Students must be a U.S. citizen and a resident of Hampton Roads attending any TCC campus.
B. Students must be enrolled in one of the following business or real estate-related programs: Accounting, Administrative Support Technology, Business Administration, Advertising Design, Computer Science, Cyber Security, Entrepreneurship, Construction or any leadership or management-related programs.
C. Students must maintain a minimum GPA of a 3.0.
D. Students are encouraged to submit documented organized extracurricular activity such as but not limited to: volunteering, community, and/or leadership experience and obtain approved and signed documentation from the organization.
E. Students must submit an essay (650-1500 words) or video (2-5 minute video) answering the following questions:

  1. What are your career goals within your chosen field of study?
  2. How will this scholarship benefit your educational journey?
  3. What does the term fair housing mean to you? i. “Real estate professionals and consumers depend on strong fair housing laws and
    practices for our communities and economy to thrive. Discrimination distorts the housing market and closes the door on the American dream of homeownership for

    F. Awarded scholar(s) is highly encouraged to participate in a one-time photo opportunity with The Hampton Roads REALTORS® Foundation. Photos will be shared with The Hampton Roads REAL TORS® Foundation media via the website, press releases, newsletters, and social media platforms.
    G. Preference will be given to students who provide a reference from Hampton Roads REAL TOR® or Affiliate member. In the case that the student does not have a member reference, they are encouraged to reach out to the Hampton Roads REALTORS® Foundation Chairperson, Jay Mitchell- jay.mitchell@rwtowne.com.
